Trust MiDAS Training Drives Positive Growth
Return to Latest News
Since the beginning of the year, Prosper Learning Trust has been operating the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS) for the training and assessment of staff to operate Trust minibuses for class trips, educational visits, and transport needs.
The scheme is led by Kevin Sutton, Trust Estates Management Officer, alongside Steve Turnbull, Teacher at Mary Astell Academy, who are the driver assessor trainers. They commenced their Training and Assessing Minibus Drivers Certificate to become driver assessors in September 2021, allowing them to undertake both standard and accessible driver awareness training and assessments. Since their training, over 30 members of Trust staff have completed their driver assessment, allowing for further additional staff to safely operate and follow the driving standards when driving Trust minibuses.
Kevin Sutton said “Conducting the MiDAS training and assessments has given us the flexibility to conduct them in-house and work around academy schedules. This has allowed for an increase in staff members being able to drive the minibuses to meet academy and Trust needs, meaning it has been a great asset to the Trust so far.”
