J Clifford Swan

Joanne Clifford-Swan, Member is an advisor in initial teacher education, working regionally and nationally on quality assurance and policy implementation. 

Joanne was Chair of Trustees of Prosper Learning Trust from its establishment in January 2017 to August 2025. Prior to that she had been a Governor of Newcastle Bridges School since 2011.

Previously, she led teacher training provision at Northumbria University for a number of years. Joanne originally came from a mainstream primary background, having spent over 25 years teaching in the region, including headship of two schools. She also worked as part of a Local Authority's School Improvement team, supporting teachers in improving outcomes in literacy.

Joanne is also a Governor at a North East secondary school.
